1) The sun returned
Once upon a time, our Beloved Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was coming from a distant place, and as he was travelling, the time to perform the Asr Salah began, he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم offered the Asr Salah, after that He rested his head on the knee of Hadrat Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ and fell asleep. Hadrat Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ hadn’t offered the Asr Salah. Moreover, he realized that the time of Asr Salah was coming to an end but he had a thought which kept coming to his mind, that if he moved his limbs to perform Salah, the sound sleep of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would be disturbed, hence he رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ didn’t move the blessed head of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and he noticed that the sun had set and the time to perform Asr Salah ended as well. When Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم woke up from his sound sleep, Hadrat Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ told him that he hasn’t offered Salah as yet. Huzoor صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم made Du’a and the sun reappeared so that Hadrat Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ could offer Salah. After he performed the ‘Asr Salah, the sun had set once again. (Mu’jam Kabeer, vol. 24, p. 145, Hadith 382; Al-Shifa, vol. 1, p. 284) Dear little boys and girls! This parable tells us that Allah Almighty has given power to His Beloved Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم through which he can make the sun change track.
2) The moon split into two parts
The non-Muslims of Makkah Mukarramah asked Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to show them a sign if he is indeed a true Messenger of Allah Almighty. Hadrat Abdullah Bin Mas’ood رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said that I witnessed with my own eyes that Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم split the moon into two halves. Half of it could be clearly seen above the hill and the other half could be seen below it. When the non-Muslims saw this, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: Be witness that I am the true Messenger of Allah Almighty. (Bukhari, vol. 3, pp. 339-340, Hadith 4864-4865, summarised) Allah Almighty has mentioned in the Holy Quran that: The Day of Judgement came near, and the moon has split (with the indication of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad). [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 27, Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 1) Which means that the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم split the moon into two halves. (Tafseer Khaazin, vol. 4, p. 201, summarised) Dear little boys and girls! This parable taught us that Allah Almighty has bestowed such powers to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم due to which the sun as well as the moon obey Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. It also teaches us that the Day of judgment will come, and we will be resurrected. We would be questioned about our good and bad deeds, so we should perform lots of good deeds to please Allah Almighty.
3) The detoxified poison of a snake
When the order of migrating from Makkah Mukarramah to Madinah Munawwarah was given, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ started migrating together. On the way to Madinah Munawwarah, they stopped by a cave. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ went inside the cave in order to clean it, he closed all the holes in the cave. However, he couldn’t find anything to close one of the holes, so he closed it with his big toe, and then humbly requested Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to come inside the cave. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم went inside the cave and placed his blessed head on the knee of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ and fell asleep. After a little while, a snake tried to enter through the hole which was covered by the big toe of Sayyiduna Siddeeq Akbar’s رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ feet and bit his big toe. Even though he was going through a lot of pain because of the snake bite, he thought that if he moved, the sound sleep of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would be disturbed. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ didn't move the Prophet Muhammad's head from his knee. When the intensity of pain increased, tears rolled down his face and fell upon the luminous blessed face of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم woke up and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ narrated the entire incident to him. The Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم applied his blessed saliva on the big toe, by virtue of which he felt instant relief. (Madarij-un-Nubuwwah, vol. 2, p. 58; Tafseer Khaazin, vol. 2, p. 240; Bahar-e-Shari’at, vol. 1, p. 75, Part 1) Dear little boys and girls! The parable mentioned above tells us that the companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم loved him more than they loved their own lives. We should also love Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and follow his Sunnahs.
4) Feast of a thousand Companions
Sayyiduna Jabir رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said that: ‘Due to the absence of food in the war, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم had fastened a stone over his stomach as He was starving.’ Just as I looked, he was fastening a stone. I ran towards Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and asked him to grant me permission to go back home. After his approval, I went home and narrated to my wife that: ‘I have seen Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in a state of extreme starvation, do we have anything to eat at home?’ She replied: ‘We have a little barley at home and nothing else.’ I asked her to quickly make flour out of it. I had a baby goat at home, which I slaughtered, and asked my wife to cook the meat, and bread till I go and ask Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to come to our home. My wife said: ‘Bring one or two people along with Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم because we have a small quantity of food at our house.’ Hadrat Jabir رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ went to him when he was alone and said: ‘Oh Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I have asked my wife to prepare bread and meat of a baby goat. Oh Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Please come along with one or two people only.’ Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم asked me to not let my wife cook bread until he arrives. When Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم arrived, he put his blessed saliva into the dough and made Du’a. He also put his blessed saliva into the bowl that had meat in it. He then ordered us to cook bread, however not to take the pan off from the stove. The wife of Hadrat Jabir رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ started serving the bowls of cooked meat and bread to the point that one thousand people satisfied their hunger, however the dough was still present in the same quantity and so was the curry. (Bukhari, vol. 3, p. 51, Hadith 4101-4102, summarised; Seerat-e-Mustafa, p. 326, summarised) Dear little boys and girls! This parable has taught us that Allah Almighty gave Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم the power to increase the quantity of food. It also taught us that Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم loved his companions dearly, so he didn’t forget his companions even in the time of intense starvation. We also learnt that hardships are part of life and they will knock at our door, but true winners are those who handle hardships with patience.
5) Water that flowed from his blessed fingers
Once, our Holy Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم went to Makkah Mukarramah to perform Umrah – an Islamic Pilgrimage with 1400 companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم. The Non-Muslim army was also present and didn’t allow the Muslims to enter the territory of Makkah Mukarramah. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and his Companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم were not allowed to proceed. There was a shortage of water and there was only one well with no water. When the companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم felt extremely thirsty, the Holy Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم put his blessed hand in a pot and water started flowing from his blessed fingers like springs i.e. water was produced in ample quantity by virtue of his blessed fingers. Then Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم poured the water that had flown from his fingers into the dry well. He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم also put the water which he had already used for Wudu/ablution alongside one of his arrows in the well. As a result, the well was filled with ample quantity of water that his companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم kept using it for themselves as well as for their animals for many of days. (Bukhari, vol. 3, pp. 68-69, Hadith 4150-4152, summarised; Al-Kamil fi Tareekh, vol. 2, pp. 86-87, summarised, Seerat-e-Mustafa, p. 347, summarised) Hadrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه wrote in this way: ‘The greatest water of all is the one which had flowed from the blessed fingers of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. (Fatawa Razawiyyah, vol. 3, p. 245) Dear little boys and girls! The Hadith mentioned above reminds us that Allah Almighty has Blessed Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم with immense power, which enables him to do whatever he wishes to. Moreover, we also realized that Holy Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is very merciful to his Ummah.
6)The date detached itself
A person who resided in a village came to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and said: ‘How should I believe that you are the Messenger of Allah Almighty?’ Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘If I call the dates which are right there on the palm tree and they come walking towards me, would it make you believe that I am a true Messenger of Allah Almighty?’ Upon this, the villagers humbly said: ‘Okay. Of course, we will accept you as the Prophet of Allah Almighty. He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم called the dates and they detached themselves from the palm tree and came to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and when he ordered them – they went to the palm tree and attached themselves to the trees. Just as the man looked at it, he converted to a Muslim. (Tirmizi, vol. 5, p. 360, Hadith 3648; Seerat-e-Mustafa, pp. 773-774, summarised) Dear little boys and girls! This parable taught us that the trees also obey the orders of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. We should also act according to the sayings of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.
7)The Tree greeted him
Sayyiduna Abdullah Bin Umar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما once said: ‘We were going somewhere with Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, the Messenger of Allah Almighty and a villager came to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and then he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم invited him to accept Islam.’ The man questioned him and said: ‘Do you have a sign that can prove your Prophethood?’ Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied that the tree in front of you would prove that I am the Messenger of Allah Almighty. Then, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم called the tree and it came walking towards Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and said Salaam, ‘اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا رَسُوْلَ اﷲ’ to him. And thrice it claimed rightfully that Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah Almighty. Then Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ordered it to go back and the tree walked back to its position. The villager asked Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to grant him permission to kiss his hands and feet, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم agreed and the villager kissed his hand and feet out of deep affection. (Sharh Al-Zurqaani alal Mawahib, vol. 6, pp. 517-519) Dear little girls and boys! Through this parable we now know that the trees also recognize the Messenger of Allah Almighty and also obey his orders. We should also act upon the teachings of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم
8) The tree came in walking
Once, while going somewhere Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم felt the need to cover himself, however he couldn’t find any place to cover. He saw two trees which were far from each other. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم held a branch of one of the trees and ordered it to walk, so the tree walked alongside him just like a camel does. Then Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ordered the other tree to walk while pointing towards it and it started walking as well. The trees collided and Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم made a cover through these trees, for his use. After the fulfilment of his need, he ordered both the trees to go back to their position and they did. (Sharh Al-Zurqaani alal Mawahib, vol. 6, p. 520) Dear little boys and girls! In this parable we understood that trees and everything else obeys the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم who is the Messenger of Allah Almighty. Whatever order he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم gives, even the trees obey him; but despite all this, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم never collected worldly materials for himself but he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم devoted his entire life to please Allah Almighty. We should also spend our life performing good deeds so that we may please Allah Almighty and Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.
9) Wood converted into a sword
Sayyiduna Abdullah’s رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ sword was broken in a battle so Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم gave him the branch of a palm tree and said: ‘Go, fight with this!’ As soon as the branch came in the hands of Sayyiduna Abdullah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, it converted into a great sword) (Madarij-un-Nubuwwah, vol. 2, p. 123, summarised) Dear little boys and girls! This parable taught us that Allah Almighty gave powers to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم which enabled him to convert things into whatever and whichever form he wills
10) The crying pillar
In earlier times, there was no pulpit (a staircase where the Imam stands on Friday and reads out loud in Arabic) in the Masjid-e-Nabawi, Madinah Munawwarah. There was just a pillar made out of the palm tree where Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would rest against and deliver sermons. After some time, a female companion رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُا of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم made a pulpit for him and placed it in the Masjid for him to stand on, and deliver sermons. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stood on the pulpit and started delivering the sermon, and the noise of a baby crying was heard coming out of the pillar, the pillar started crying uncontrollably and it felt as if it would explode. The people offering Salah could listen to its cry properly. As soon as Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم heard the pillar crying, he got up from the pulpit and kept his hand on the pillar out of pure love and hugged it, so the pillar stopped crying slowly just like kids are stopped from crying. The pillar stopped crying and Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said that this pillar was crying because it used to listen to the remembrance of Allah Almighty and now, it isn’t listening to the remembrance of Allah Almighty in my voice, hence it was crying. (Bukhari, vol. 2, p. 496, Hadith 3584; Seerat-e-Mustafa, p. 778, summarised) Then Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said to the pillar: ‘If you want, you will be rooted again in the same garden of your origin, and you will give fruits just like you did before! Or if you wish, I can make you a tree of Heaven so that the pious people of Allah Almighty keep eating your fruits.’ As soon as the palm tree heard the voice of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, it answered so loudly that all people present there listened its words: ‘Oh Rasool Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I want to be a tree of Heaven so that the pious people of Allah Almighty keep eating the fruits I give.’ Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said that I have accepted your demand i-e I have made you a tree of Heaven. Thereafter, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Look, oh people! The pillar has let go of the ending worldly life by choosing an unending life of Heaven for itself. (Al-Shifa, vol. 1, p. 304-305; Seerat-e-Mustafa, pp. 779-780, summarised)’ Dear little boys and girls! This parable taught us that even non-living things love Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and they don’t like to be distant from Rasool Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! Even today, the devotees of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم love Madinah Munawwarah for the sake of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and they want to visit the gracious city of Madinah frequently, when they leave Madinah Munawwarah, they have tears in their eyes.
11) The Camel started crying
Once upon a time, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم visited a garden owned by a man, a camel was standing in the garden. On seeing Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم it started screaming loudly and both its eyes were filled with tears. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم went near it and stroke his blessed hand on the head of the horse out of love and it became silent. Then Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم asked the people who is the owner of this horse? People told him the name of that person. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم quickly called him and said: ‘Be kind to your animals, your horse has made a complaint to me about your behaviour, that you leave it to starve, and you take more work out of the horse than the energy you give them, which causes them pain.’ (Sharh Al-Zurqaani alal Mawahib, vol. 6, p. 543; Seerat-e-Mustafa, pp. 782-783, summarised) That means Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم advised the owner to provide his horse with proper food and take only as much work out of them as they could give. Dear little boys and girls! This parable taught us that animals not only recognise Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم but they also know the fact that Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم listens to us and solves our problems.
12. A Bird and its children
Once upon a time, a companion رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was passing by a bush and heard the noise of some sparrow’s chicks, so he went near them, got hold of the chicks and kept them in his shawl. During that time, the mother sparrow started revolving around the head of the companion. He opened the shawl up, and the mother sparrow sat with her chicks. The companion brought all these chicks to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and narrated the whole story to him. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Keep your shawl open on the floor.’ He agreed and opened the shawl up, however the mother sparrow didn’t move away from her chicks. Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, the Messenger of Allah Almighty said: ‘Are you surprised looking at the affection that she is showing to her chicks?’ As much as this sparrow is merciful to her chicks, Allah Almighty is definitely a lot more merciful to humans.’ Furthermore Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Take them back, and keep them exactly where you’ve gotten them from.’ The mother sparrow didn’t separate from her chicks, and the companion of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم took them back to their place. (Abu-Dawood, vol. 3, p. 245, Hadith 3089) Dear little boys and girls! This parable has taught us that A mother loves her children dearly. Which is why we should also take care of our parents and obey them, and not ignore or disobey them. This parable has also taught us that Allah Almighty shows mercy to His bondsmen more than their mothers do. Allah Almighty has made Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, رَحْمَۃٌ لِّلْعَالَمِیْن a blessing for everyone, he is not just a blessing for us but also for the animals, so we should also have affection for Allah Almighty and His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and we should also follow their commands.
